Quivira Vineyards Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel, 2017

$28.00

This wine comes from Dry Creek, which IMHO, is where our best Zins are made, but even here they can be overdone & jammy. Quivira does it just right. Great wine starts in the vineyard and they have been great stewards of their land, even restoring Wine Creek so that the Coho salmon and Steelhead trout can spawn there again. They sit on one of the most beautiful sites on the Dry Creek valley floor. Produce from the 100+ raised beds around the winery is sometimes for sale in the tasting room. They and their grapes are always organically farmed. This is a beautiful Zin with a bit of age on it. On the nose you’ll find rich and ripe blackberry, black plum with dried herbs and earth- almost like the redwood forests in the Russian River area- and a little mocha. The palette has a strong acid backbone with fresher flavors than the nose suggested. The fruit was more red, red plums Bing cherries and ripe raspberry. The tannins were there, just grabbing a bit on the finish.
